There is definitely a strong link between shoes and love. Most people will agree that buying a new pair of shoes can put a smile on your face. It’s even better when they are given to you free.
Last month, as part of the launch of their Shoe Garden, Arnotts ran a very clever marketing and promotional campaign called #ShoeLove over the weekend of 24 – 25 April 2015.
To help celebrate #ShoeLove Weekend, Arnotts had a number of promotions running, but the cleverest of all was when they rigged their store with hidden cameras to surprise unsuspecting customers.
What happened next was not just amazing but very clever marketing.
Arnotts had set up several of their staff at the till, to offer customers a pair of matching shoes when purchasing clothes and complete their outfit. It was all recorded on video and the look on their customer’s faces was of disbelief, surprise and pure happiness.
It just goes to show that it pays so much to be innovative in your marketing, whilst being nice to your customers. To record it on video is very wise too, as it captures the moment to share for all to see. However, it’s so important that we make a relevant connection with our customers and get that right.
- We need to know our customers inside out
- Find out what’s important to them and what they really want
- Make offers that are worthwhile and very inviting
- Have clear and simple messages that appeal to their emotions
- Deliver our message in a positive and happy way
So, all I can say is “Well done Arnotts for a job well done”. Next time, I need a pair of shoes I’ll definitely bear you in mind. In the meantime, check out their video - click here
