If ever I felt I was in a time warp, it has certainly been in the past couple of days. I came across another article from 2008 that was called "Invest in being Perfed Pitch" which was written for the Sunday Times.
It reminded me about people I hadn't been in touch with for a while as it included interviews and comments from a number of business people. Some of these were old customers, the Sales Institute and a couple of trainers - one of which included "mise"!
Looking back over it today, it brought a smile to my face to read the words of Tim Lucas - a great customer of old and also the Managing Director of Lucas Products and Services - who provide industrial sign and label supplies. In the piece Tim talked about how he values the the importance of sales training.
He was quoted as saying "Things are a lot more competitive and a lot tighter now. We're having to root out sales like never before...I'd never done cold-calling, for example. So I took a sales training course that showed me how to structure a call and how to behave on the phone, and that gave me the confidence. We've had a number of good sales calls as a result".
Tim and several of his staff attended my "Cold Calling & Appointment Making" training course over a number of years. So it was great to see the positive feedback and genuine results that Tim's company achieved from the training at the time. And judging by Tim's fantastic web-site today, my guess is that his hard work has certainly paid off and that the business is doing very well.
It just goes to show that it's good to have a blast from the past - as I certainly enjoyed reading the piece again today. Now all I need to do is root out Tim's number for a good catch up!
