Meet the Team - Karen Sommerville

Based in Wicklow, Call Focus is headed up by Karen Sommerville, a competent communications, sales, customer service and customer relations specialist.

With over 30 years’ experience in various sales and marketing roles in direct and channel sales, Karen has worked across a number of sectors inclduing the IT, telecoms, direct marketing and contact centre industries serving both business and consumer markets.

Karen is acutely aware of the importance of a professional, high quality service in managing the customer relationship. As a result, she set up Call Focus to help companies develop “effective customer communications” so they can maximise opportunities, improve productivity, enrich communications and enhance client relations by focusing on their communications, sales, personal development and customer relations function. 

As the principle trainer, Karen is best known for the popular “Customer Service & Complaint Handling”,“Time Management”,“Effective Telephone Sales”,"Business Writing & Email Etiquette" and "Successful Cash Collection by Telephone" training workshops, amongst others which have been designed for SME’s in Ireland.  

Karen is in a unique position to offer clients a seamless and professional service in the delivery of training either online or in-person. She understands “no size fits all” and takes pride on having the flexibility to customise training to suit the needs of the client. This starts from the point of taking the brief where she has a track record in identifing the gaps and potential opportunities to meet the businesses objectives. 

She designs and prepares each workshop and mentoring session right through to the delivery of each programme. Her presentation and training style is very energetic, practical, and interactive; with exercises and discussions focused around participant’s real life situations and business needs. As a result, she frequently achieves satisfaction ratings exceeding 85% - with many clients returning time and time again.

Karen strives to continously stay on top of her game. She consistently upskills and invests in her own self-development, allowing her enhance her workshops and one-to-one mentoring sessions.

An established trainer for many different Skillnet groups, Local Enterprise Offices, business associations and educational bodies as well as a number of private clients. Karen is also a member of the Irish Institute of Training & Development and also the Marketing Institute Ireland, a business mentor for Enterprise Ireland and several local enterprise offices.
